Our March Student of the Month is Tyson Brown! Tyson has been at the Academy throughout his high school career and his reputation as a fine young man precedes himself. Though Tyson is an incredible student, he is also always willing to lend a helping hand to others, which is equally admirable and appreciated. In his free time, when he is not working on the farm, Tyson enjoys bowling, fishing, hunting, and going to the movies with his equally amazing girlfriend, Giada. Once Tyson graduates next year, he plans to pursue a career in agriculture and welding. When asked how he’d like to make a positive impact on this world, he cited the importance of farmers to the function of society. Boy, he is so right! Tyson attributes his success to working hard and having a positive attitude. We are proud of you, Tyson! Hard work does pay off, and you are a perfect example of this. Congratulations!

Teacher of the Year nominations are now open! Berrien County has been blessed to have such great teachers in our system. We would like to recognize those teachers who have gone above and beyond their normal duties and responsibilities to make a difference in the lives of Berrien County children and the community at large. In addition to our internal selection criteria such as years of experience, certificate clearance, etc., we are looking for a teacher who has outstanding character, inspires ALL students, has a proven track record of high student achievement, and has contributed to both the school and community. We have started a "B" The Difference campaign and we would urge you to nominate teachers who make a difference each day! Please make nominations here: https://forms.gle/8Hc1UToLLPStDpUJ7

The Academy wishes to extend a big thank you to Steeda in Valdosta for a wonderful field trip that provided hands-on activities and informative observations in various manufacturing careers. Our students were engaged and excited! #machinists #welding #assembly #videography #marketing #graphics #sales

Students in Dr. Wynn's Biology and US History classes spent the first day back to school completing a team building activity. Students were given one rubber band with several strings attached and 10 plastic cups. They had to work together to build a pyramid. They could only use the rubber band and strings. This activity showed the importance of working together, communicating, and being aware of strengths/weaknesses of those around them. It also showed them the importance of working as a team to reach a common goal. Both science and history classes have an EOC in May.

The Berrien County School System has received accreditation status for all of our schools through Cognia. Cognia Accreditation signifies that a school meets rigorous standards of educational quality and effectiveness, which is recognized by the State Department of Education and the United States Department of Education. Superintendent Robin Marcrum stated, “We are incredibly proud to have earned accreditation through Cognia, a recognition that highlights our commitment to excellence in education. This achievement is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our teachers, staff, students, and community. We look forward to continuing our journey of improvement and success.”
